History of Oud

A Brief History

Oud – also known as Agarwood – comes from the wood of the tropical Agar tree, believed to have originated in the Assam region of India. The wood of the tree produces a precious dark aromatic resin – which is what we commonly know as Oud Oil. Since its discovery, Oud has been highly valued by most perfumers of our region for its strong, woody, aromatic and distinctive scent – and has become a staple in our cultures beauty rituals passed down from generation to generation.

Spotlight! Chopards Rose Malaki

The new Rose Malaki - created by perfumer Amandine Clerc-Marie – is part of the Malaki collection from Chopard, inspired by the Orient. The Malaki collection, named after the Arabic word “royal”, was the first of its kind to come from the luxury brand. Encompassing oriental and leather characteristics, the Rose Malaki provides an oriental and spicy composition where the scent of the rose plays the main role. A symbol of romanticism, the Damascus rose blooms in the heart of the fragrance with soft notes of petals spiced with saffron. Cedar is present as a deep and elegant note in the base of the scent. The union of the ingredients creates a familiar scent of Oud but with a romantic twist!.
