Talking Fragrance with Moe
What fragrance are you sporting these days?
Moe: During the day I usually go for something fresh, lately I've been using YSL cologne gingembre and in at night I've been using either YSL Splendid Wood or Tom Ford's Noir Extreme.
Do you remember the first fragrance you ever wore? Would you still wear it now?
Moe: The first fragrance I ever wore was Dolce & Gabbana's Pour Homme, even though I still appreciate this classic fragrance, it reminds me of being in my younger years so I have definitely outgrown it.
What types of fragrances do you usually go for?
Moe: I usually go for something luxurious with contrast, I like the richness and warmth of Oud but mixed with something on the lighter side such as notes of rosewood or a zesty citrus. And during a recent trip to Muscat, I started to really appreciate the smell of frankincense and looking for more fragrances that incorporate it.
What are your favorite fragrance notes?
Moe: I would have to say rosewood, citrus fruits, oud and frankincense.
What was the last fragrance you bought?
Moe: The last fragrance I bought was Givenchy Gentlemen Only Casual Chic, it’s very fresh yet long lasting, and the next on my list would be Byredo's Oud Immortel.
Do you ever layer your fragrances? If so, can you spill your secret recipe?
Moe: Yes, I normally always layer my fragrances. I usually spray something light and long lasting in the beginning such as Carolina Herrera's CH Men or YSL's Gingembre then end it with something more intense such as Amouage's Jubilation or YSL's Splendid Wood.
What fragrance would you gift a man/woman?
MoeAs a gift I would definitely choose something that isn't too intense to be on the safer side. For a woman, I would recommend Montale's Rose Musk and Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino and for a man, I would recommend YSL L'homme Libre, Givenchy Gentlemen Only or Dior Cologne Royale.
Do you have a separate scent for day and night? If so, what are they?
Moe: Yes! During the day, my current favorite scent to use is YSL Gingembre or L'homme and in the evenings Splendid Wood or Tom Ford's Noir Extreme.
Name your top 3 fragrances of all time:
Moe: Very tough to narrow down but I would have to say that my top 3 fragrances of all time would be YSL's Splendid Wood, Amouage's Jubiliation and Carolina Herrera's Ch Men.
Do you tend to experiment with new scents, or do you prefer to stick with your all-time favorites?
Moe: A little bit of both. Recently, I experimented by making my own scent at a perfumery for family and friends, I used a lot of saffron and mixed it with lighter notes such as rosewood; it was a big hit and it gave me a sense of encouragement to potentially create my own line of fragrances in the future.
